Since my husband and I are addicted to Angry Birds the game, this was naturally our first choice of design for the competition. We baked the cakes, froze them, carved the basic shape of both pig heads, and crumb coated them. We decided to try white chocolate modeling dough for the first time instead of fondant since we are not fondant fans. So we sculpted the more intricate details in plain modeling chocolate before we rolled out the colored modeling chocolate for the final layer. We then sculpted the eggs, birds, slingshot, crown, and ears out of more modeling chocolate. We then painted more color details on the pieces using food coloring thinned with vodka. We used toothpicks to help the birds stand on the pigs in order to finish the composition.
