We took a while choosing what type of cake to make and eventually settled on buttery orange cake. We learned it takes many oranges to harvest 3 tablespoons of orange rind and an entire cup of orange juice! We got there in the end though, popped our soon-to-be bear in the oven and out he came one hour and five minutes later. With the help of a handy dandy kitchen knife, cake became bear, rawr! Our tin wasn't quite wide enough, so we stuck a piece of cake we had already cut away onto his side with some butter icing. I piped on his chocolate-y buttery fur having never piped anything before, and it was rather successful :) Details (eyes, nose and razor) were done last using unpleasant-looking black icing (it tastes good though!). Somewhere along the line he became known as Napoleon and although it was hard to eat a friend, it had to be done... >:D
