I created this cake as a multi-layered cake covered in fondant. I started off with a regular white cake, which i then carved and cut, layering with a lemon filling to create the television shape. instead of a perfect square television i did a slanted back to similar to the old fashioned tube tvs. my original plan was to colour the cake batter to be rainbow, so it would appear that when you cut it the rainbow was leaking from within rather than the screen, but oops... i went and baked the cakes plain forgetting. in the end i think it may have been a bit much anyways so it was all for the best. after carving out the shape i covered the cake in a thin layer of icing to serve as a base for my fondant. i then set to work colouring my fondant black, which was a lot of work haha. it took a ridiculous amount of colouring, and purple dyed hands to finally reach my goal. it looked better then expected though. i had never worked with fondant before so i ran into a few obstacle while trying to cover my cake.
