Hello everybody!
After a bit of searching for a unique design, I came across Michael's awesome game design, which frankly sums up my passionate love for video games. Seeing as this is a very character heavy piece, fondant molding was going to be the primary time consumption in the design. I started with 5 colors of fondant, laying the printed tee as reference under for the characters. Modeling began, which took about 15 hours in a span of about 2 weeks. For the fondant modeling I used baking/clay modeling tools to sculpt, shape, and form the dozens of little game guys, some of which were smaller then the nail of a pinky finger. After the long process of clay modeling, the brownie cake was a bit less arduous and time consuming, taking about 2 days to do. I decided to make a rich chocolate cake with butter cream, covered with a layer of fondant, and finished with royal icing for the clouds in the game piece. The cakes ingredients included chocolate, butter, eggs, sugar, and flour. To complete the cake, I covered the top with a gray layer of fondant, applied the pieces with water, and finished the cloud designs with white royal icing. I finished the cake in time for a friends party which gave me the opportunity to let others enjoy all the hard work put into the cake. Overall it was such a huge success, and very delicious!
