Pizza Loves Pizza

I've been wanting to try my hand at a multi-layer round cake, and haven't had the proper motivation to do so until now. Since this is my first attempt, I kept things simple. This cake is two layers of chocolate cake, with chocolate ganache in the middle. The frosting is whipped cream, because that's what I had on hand! The hand is molded similar to a cake ball: I took some of the extra cake from leveling the layers and added some frosting. I formed the individual parts, then dipped them in white chocolate. Then I simply added some of the whipped cream frosting and attached to the cake!

It's hard to say how long it took to make, since I worked on it between reading chapters of Harry Potter. Overall, I started it at 11:00am, and finished around 5:00pm. It probably took about 2 hours of actual work time, maybe a little bit more.

The cake was delicious! I love chocolate cake, so that's a no brainer. Chocolate ganache inside makes it rich, while the whipped cream frosting keeps it light. The hand was also delicious, simply chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, white chocolate and whipped cream. My husband said it made him want pizza, but after eating it said it tastes better than it looks!
