Description
Baking is a passion of mine and I love a challenge. I've been wanting to enter this contest every year but I always seem to miss it. Not any more!
I love glitter and when I saw this disco ball shirt, it called my name. I have had silver edible glitter collecting dust in my pantry and this was the perfect way to use it up. I've never carved a cake before but I figured if I'm gonna do this, might as well go all out.
I made three 6" pound cakes and used peanut butter frosting in between layers. I froze the cake and carved a semi-decent sphere. I used red fondant and black frosting for the record. Then I made some lavender/grey fondant which I covered with silver glitter for the disco ball.
Overall I am pleased with the final result. It wasn't nearly as difficult as I was expecting it to be. I made it over the course of 12 hours but took several breaks in between.
