Description
I love baking and when I saw this contest from Threadcakes I knew I had to make something. Usually the cakes I make are decorated very simply so doing something more complex was a real challenge. When I saw "Piet's Playground" I knew that was a design I could actually do.
The cake is a lemon cake with lemon curd filling and lemon cream cheese frosting. I didn't want to decorate using fondant because I don't think it tastes very good and I wanted the cake to be super tasty.
I started with a simple square base and then cut another layer into 3 smaller squares for the 3 "boys". Using white, red, blue, and yellow frosting I covered the cakes. I applied all the details with frosting tips.
The cake decorating culminated in a cake eating party where the cake was quickly cut up and enjoyed. I had a lot of fun doing this cake and my friends had a lot of fun eating it.
