Description
I met a friend for coffee about a week ago and she clued me in to this awesome contest - and once I saw the website I KNEW I had to try and squeeze in an entry before the deadline!
I chose Monster Wash because 1. It looks like this design hasn't ever been made into a cake yet and 2. The monsters are stinkin' cute and I knew they'd be even cuter if they were fondant!
The cake is french vanilla layered with a blackberry filling. The monsters have rice krispie innards and are covered in a 50/50 gumpaste and fondant mix and the rest of the decor is fondant. I used a straw for internal support for the brush and I did have to use a toothpick in each of the monster's arms to hold up their respective hoses/brushes as they weren't able to hold up their tools on their own!
The whole process probably took around 10 hours. This cake was so fun to make and I can't wait until next year to make another Threadcakes creation!
