Why So Curious

I have always wanted to enter this competition, but I have never had the nerve, or time. Now that I own my own cake business and my son will be attending kindergarten next month, sniffle, I made myself do it! I have achieved so much this year, so I figure, why not?
This cake took me, and my son PJ, 3 days and about 10 hours to complete.
On the first day I started by checking out the site for a design and the first one that caught my attention was "Why so curious?" I love Curious George and have a lot of cake orders with is face, so I figured for my first threadcake, this is fate! George is made out of vanilla fondant and edible food color. :)

The second day was baking day, with my helper PJ. We baked a yellow cake from scratch, using my tweaked recipe. Yumm-mmy!

The third day was icing with buttercream and covering in fondant day... The best day, in my opinion, cause after this, we get to eat it!

I think the cake came out well. I will definitely enter next year with a 3D cake!!!
