Description
My name is Kate, my sister Bonnie and I love making cakes and when we saw the sushi design we thought it was so cute!
The base of the cake was white chocolate mud cake with a chocolate mousse filling, then covered in chocolate ganache. The sleeping sushi's were also white chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling, then covered in chocolate ganache.
We covered the base of the cake in brown fondant and made a fanit woodgrain effect, then covered the board in green and hand cut z's out of fondant. The sleeping sushi's were covered in white fondant and then a layer of coconut to add a sushi effect and texture! The tuna, salmon and shrimp were modelled out of coloured fondant and stick on top. Then the little details like the arms, and eyes etc were modelled from fondant and stuck on.
The cake was light and moist and complimented nicely by the light choc mousse filling, the sushi part of the cake was also nice with the coconut adding to the flavour. After the mixing and baking process it took about 5 hours to carve, cover, model and decorate the entire cake.
Then i took it to work so my collegues to eat it and it took about 5 mins for the whole cake to dissapear! :)
