Description
I made "Sees the Cake" from banana cake and buttercream frosting. As a bonus - and knowing that the cake alone wouldn't be enough for my co-workers - I made red velvet cupcakes that continued the design theme.
I created the design using a Frozen Buttercream Transfer. That alone took a couple hours of intense concentration as I carefully detailed the branches, falling leaves, monkeys, etc. (I don't know if pointilism is often used as a decorating technique, but it was how I did all the leaves on the tree.) So imagine my heartbreak when I dropped the transfer as I was pulling it from the freezer. Luckily, I had enough frosting to create it again, and am very pleased with the end result.
I'm also very happy that my newly-attempted technique at creating a gradient effect (using no airbrush) came out so well!
I hope you all enjoy looking at my cake as much as my co-workers and I enjoyed eating it!
