Description

So on a spur of the moment decision today (With it being summer vacation and all) I thought that it would be fun to make a "threadcake". After spending a long time looking at all the different designs this was the one that really stuck out (being a long time Zelda fan and all). I spent about two hours trying to figure out exactly how I wanted to do this and planning it out.

At first I wanted to use letter cutters to cut all the words out of fondant but I realized I didn't have enough lying around for that so I ended up using royal icing. Piping's not really my strong point but I'm happy about how it turned out. I wanted to stick to the pattern and the correct words and characters as much as I could which required a lot of work on my part. Because I only had one tip in the size I needed I had to do each colour in it's entirety before I could move on to the next one which led to a lot of trying to match letters up to other letters.

In total with planning, baking, and piping the whole thing probably took about nine or ten hours. The cake itself is a simple white cake with a vanilla buttercream covered in fondant. Considering when I woke up this morning I hadn't planned on making a cake I'm pretty proud of how it turned out.
