Description
I have been living in Japan for 2 years now. I started a cake business that caters to other americans living out here, and I have always wanted to make a sushi cake! I am surrounded by it all the time, I enjoy eating it, others like it as well, so, why not!? I was scrolling through the T-shirt images for the Threadcakes contest and found the Sleeping Sushi image and was like SCORE! I can kill two birds with one stone: enter a contest AND make a sushi cake! The cake is a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. It is resting on a base of peanut brittle, to give it some edible stability, and then it is all covered in fondant. The sushi are made out of chocolate cake as well. They were then covered in fondant and rolled in coconut flakes to represent the rice. The piece of fish are fondant painted with food coloring. I would say it took me 2 days in total. I really enjoyed making it and am very pleased with how it turned out. I brought it to a party and it was a hit as well, for both taste and looks!
