I had so much fun making this cake!
When I decided to enter the Threadcakes competition, I bookmarked several designs but kept coming back to this one. I love the idea of making sushi figures!
Start to finish, the cake took me about five hours. The most challenging part was making the "table." I ended up very carefully breaking a board of matzah, frosting it with buttercream, and covering it with fondant. How's that for using up random food leftovers! The actual sushi pieces were a no brainer- rice cereal treats covered with dyed fondant. The little guy on the right was my favorite. He's so cute I could just eat him up. WIsh is exactly what I did.
My dad's birthday was a few days after I made the cake so I turned this into a birthday surprise. Good thing the guy likes sushi, or this would have been a little awkward!
