Description
(if this is more of a 2D cake than a 3D one, feel free to correct me)
So much went wrong with this cake.
I made sugar glass for the first time for this cake. It took me three tries, but on the third try, the glass turned out okay. Kinda see through and not thousands of bubbles.
.
.
.
BUT
Two days after I made the glass (I made another cake first and let the cookie and sugar get hard enough to move), the glass turned milky. And I have no idea why! I did not have time to make new cookie-sugar glass windows, so the cake sadly didn't quite turn out as I had planned.
It also took a bit longer to make because...well, you know how ganache has to sit for a while to get thicker? I left mine in the kitchen and my mom thought it was left over mashed potatoes, so she threw it out...D:
Then of course I made new ganache, and put it in the fridge so it would get thicker more quickly...only that I forgot about it and left it there over night...D:
We don't have a microwave, so heating it up wasn't an option. But with lots of kneading and sculpting, it turned out okay :D;;
Anyway, here's how I made the cake:
I baked a cookie sheet with chocolate sugar cookie dough and then cut out the windows with stencils I made.
Then I boiled water and sugar together to get my candy windows and poured it into the already cut out windows. I was so nervous about that part, but everything went perfect :D
I baked a white chocolate pound cake and covered it with white chocolate ganache and fondant.
The windows I glued together with lots and lots of icing, then cut a hole into the cake and put the windows in.
Then everything around the windows was covered in fondant as well, and then came the funnest part: splattering blood on the windows :D
I went over the windows with a brush and hot water, trying to get them a bit clearer, and it worked to some extend, just sadly not enough to actually see the background through the windows T~T
Well, I hope you still like the cake!
