This cake was quite the adventure! Everything from pulled sugar to the laws of physics literally collapsing down on us. Even a simple bump in the table caused me to have to change my entire plan! The cake was very simple and made from a box and frosted with sturdy buttercream! The only non-edible part of the cake is the skeleton of the skeleton which is made from bamboo pieces, copper, and electrical wire. The support structures are made out of pulled sugar and the actual hourglass itself is made out of casted sugar made from a mold of a wineglass that I found at a thrift store. When we were putting it together, the table got bumped in to and the entire cake went crashing! Not to mention the fact that our very difficult to cover in fondant skeleton took a faceplant and had to have his cranium remolded! We enjoyed eating it and I enjoyed every second that it took to make this cake. I decided that the motto of this adventure is , "it wasn't supposed to be that way, but if it hadn't turned out that way, then it wouldn't have happened at all." :)
