Monster Mash

This is my first cake entry. It took me a week to decorate because I had to work on it in parts while tending to my 9 month old baby; I mostly worked at night and on the weekend. Every year I say I am going to enter, but get halfway through and abandon the project because something always comes up. This year, I finally completed it!

This is a white cake with lemon filling and vanilla frosting. All the figures are made from Rice Krispies treats that I made from scratch. I actually needed to make two batches because they were so yummy they kept getting eaten. Both the cake and Rice Krispies were decorated with fondant.

I picked this design because I thought the little monsters were so cute. I wanted the cake to look like the drawing so I added lines to give it definition. I really had fun recreating the monster figures in 3D. The cake was very tasty and was enjoyed by my whole family.
