I've been wanting to enter a Threadcake ever since I heard about it! I didn't have much time so just picked something relatively simple for my first entry. This sweet heart with the tree and the nest really caught my eye. I love treess and it looked like it would be an easy project for a weekend. It was for myself so I wanted to try a new flavour combination so the cake was a pineapple butter cake layered with a pineapple & passionfruit compote and coconut buttercream! It tasted divine!!! I did however slightly over fill the cake so my icing bulged a bit :(. The branches of the tree ended up taking considerably longer than I had anticipated as I was trying to match the exact design on the cake, rolling all those branches of varying thickness and blending them all in together probably took about 5 hours. The leaves took a lot less time as I was using a new toy I got for my birthday, the Sugarveil Icing Dispenser. It's a lot of fun and made the job nice and easy, that said, it still took over an hour!
