Pushing Daisies cake by Maria Connor

Description

My first time to enter Thread Cakes. It was so difficult to choose, I narrowed it down to something Halloweeny...to freak the kids out!
I baked vanilla madeira, filled and coated with whipped chocolate ganache. There is one plastic dowel central internal support. I coated it with black sugar paste and made the skeleton from half/half white sugarpaste/flower paste. The decoration was attached with edible glue (Tylo/water) and royal icing. It was a bit of a nightmare as the humidity here this week was terrible, sugar paste was oh so soft an saggy, but I got over it eventually.
I had to make up the back of the skull as I went along, poetic licence ...so to speak. I decided that the poor thing was Irish, so I gave "It" (As I can't decide if it's a "He" or a "She") a shamrock tattoo for good luck :)
The flower centres were made from black sugar paste and sago coloured with black petal dust. The petals are made from flower paste. It took me about 10 hrs over 4 days....which is lot less than the time it took me to make a decision on which one to do in the first place!!! Hope you like it :)
