Nom Nom cake by Julia Isaacson

Description

Hi! This is my first time ever entering this contest and I HAD to choose a Mike Mitchell illustration once I found his work on Threadless. The base of the cake is made from two chocolate cakes & butter cream frosting. The upper part of the cone is made from RKT and fondant and the "ice cream" is made from a mixture of cake and frosting. The Arms & legs are both made from a mixture of fondant and gumpaste and there are thin wires holding up his arms. There are also a few support dowels in the bottom of the cone as well as a piece of cardboard between the two tiers. The "ice cream" around his mouth, body and on his arms is made from vodka, food gel and frosting.

I loved making this cake, the structure was a bit more difficult than I expected it to be but it all managed to work out in the end. I've been decorating cakes for exactly two years now and this was a great "anniversary" project to take on :) can't wait to enter again next year!
