Description
I chose this cake because I loved the glow in the dark elements! I thought it would be really cool to use some edible glow in the dark food coloring that I got from couturecakes.com.au ! Just a couple of drops into some buttercream and it really glowed!
First I made the boat out of modeling chocolate and baked my sheet cake. I carved in all the details and made the sails out of an edible paper called wafer paper. I airbrushed them black and then cut them out and bent them into the shape of sails.
I carved my cake into a book and covered it with buttercream and fondant. I etched in the details with a modeling tool and highlighted all the details with the glow in the dark food coloring. The waves are made of the glow in the dark buttercream. I made a moon out of gumpaste and detailed it with silver sterling pearl luster dust from thesugarart.com
Overall, the cake took me about two days to make and I really enjoyed it! I cant wait to make another one!
