So, I bet it's no surprise that I'm not a frequent cake baker. There's sort of a kindergarten feel to my artistic vision. I was going to make some really yummy chocolate cake for this, but decided it'd be cuter if I used white cake mix, made cupcakes, and colored them. Then I made buttercream frosting for the poured out water, sunlight, and terminal love. I cut out fondant to put on top of each cupcake. The end result is sort of darkly comic, a play on the original design. Trees need love to grow... or do they?
