Description
I was looking through the design pictures trying to choose something fun to make, and i couldn't keep my eyes off this gorgeous panda! I took measurements and had the structure made at my local carpenter's shop.
Started baking my delicious chocolate cake, made ganache for covering the cake, and using the same recipe but adding more cream i made the filling.
I baked 6 10" cakes but ended up using only 5. I then started applying cake on the structure, filling and all and carved away! Ganached the cake then figured out that i needed to make the cheeks wider so i added some RKT (Rice Krispie Treats) and covered it in ganache. Added modeling chocolate for the nose, modeling the nose and mouth using the modeling tool and my hands. Then covered the cake in fondant, and used the modeling tool to make the hair-like lines, and used the exacto knife cutting through the fondant to give it a more realistic hair texture. I cut out randomly black fondant for the eyes, and circles for the ears. Then started painting mixing powder and gel colors. Tinted it a bit with the airbrush. It was really fun making this cake! Enjoy the pictures!
