I Wish I Were cake by Brooke Powell

Description

When I think of cake, I automatically think of Satan because who else could have given us such a sinfully decadent treat? Having that mindset, I fell in love with this design and the idea of crafting my very own miniature Lucifer to bask on the top of a fluffy mound of sugary snow.

I assembled a crack team of cake makers to help in this mission and together we hog-tied and forced my husband to mold mini-Luc for us out of colored fondant insofar as he is the only one with enough sculpting talent for the effect we were going for. After Lucifer was done, we made a lucious two layer yellow cake with strawberry cream sandwiched between and we covered the top with a layer of sky-blue fondant. Luce was then placed on top and we went about icing him into all of his snow angel glory using whipped cream as our frosting of choice because it's both easy to spread and delightful on the tastebuds. Topping it off with a fondant pitchfork, gleefully cast aside into the fallen snow and we were ready to roll! The entire process took roughly two hours to complete and we obtained a second crack team of cake devourerers (i.e. those who devour) to help us send Luce back to the bowels (literally!) of hell where he belongs. He was quite tasty and my friend Joe, who would eat barrels of fondant if we let him, took great pleasure in devouring the devil whole.
