Description
I decided to try a cake that started from a Type tee and come up with a design to go with it! I loved this one, it is totally my type of humour! Just in case you don't want to read the entire post, I'll give you the "Clue" style synopsis - it was Paper, in the kitchen, on top of the cake, with a sledgehammer :) Since Scissors was nowhere to be found, Rock did fight for his life by suggesting the usual "Best 2 of 3" lifeline...but it was no use...
I started by making 2 6" chocolate chocolate chip cakes (I like chocolate...). While the cakes cooled, I made vanilla and some peanut butter buttercream. Once the cakes were ready, the peanut buttercream was used for the filling...mmmm. I did a crumb coat in some vanilla buttercream and then covered the cake in marshmallow fondant. I haven't yet attempted to make fondant - the one I have tastes so good, I'm not sure I want to mess with it!
Paper was made from white candy melts - I just heated them up in the microwave and poured some into my mini loaf pan. Thankfully they decided to come out of the pan easily :) Rock was made from some rice krispie treats to make the rock look "rough around the edges" and then covered in some black and white marbled fondant. No wonder Paper killed Rock - he probably tasted pretty good :)
Fondant paper was the border around the cake, the "Rock is dead" lettering was all fondant as well.
Paper and Rock were put on top of the cake with some added fondant arms and features such as the sledge hammer.
Rules are rules and it says I must eat the cake - so what was I to do but slice a piece off ... mmm I love cake... Anyway, I loved the final result, both look and taste!
