Loch Ness Imposter cake by Frieda Kraig

Description

I used a basic white cake recipe and layered an 8" round and a 6" round. I used chocolate fudge to stick the two layers together and carved a more round, fluid shape out of the two cakes. This was the first time I used marshmallow fondant. That was a sticky mess to make. I created my squid on wax paper first, then transferred it to my cake after it had dried a little. I wrapped one of the squid's tentacles around a skewer while it dried in the hopes that it would look awesome later. The Loch Ness monster head was made on a skewer that I stuck on the top of the cake. I made this cake all in one go instead of having it spread about the counter for a few days. My boyfriend appreciated that.
