A Piece of Cake

This design was carved from an orange cake with chocolate-orange ganache. I thought this simple, straight-forward design would allow me to produce a very clean piece. The cake was baked and assembled at night, and the design carved the next morning. The carving took a couple of hours (maybe 2 at most), but the cherry and stem had to dry for 8 hours before they were stiff enough to take pictures.
