Impossible Love cake by Kelly Lennon

Description

A single layer yellow-chocolate swirly-twirly cake was made from two lovely boxes of Pilsbury cake mix. After making the cake look really cool in the pan, we put it in the oven for half an hour. In that time, I made rice krispies. After those cooled a bit, I shaped them into the cactus shape and the balloon shape. I let those sit in a pan until they were entirely cool, then frosted them before covering in fondant. The cake was frosted in homemade buttercream frosting, and a gumpaste placard was made for the words "Impossible Love." Green sprinkles were carefully sorted, then lovingly placed in the still-pliable green cactus fondant. The balloon was frosted and covered in red fondant, and the words "Impossible Love" were written on the hardened gumpaste placard. The tail of the balloon and hearts were frosted onto the cake, and the placard was placed on the cake. The cactus and balloon were placed last. Overall, the cake took about two hours to create. It was certainly delicious!
