Hi Guys!
This is Cat the cake enthusiast from Australia, and this comp has been putting the biggest smile on my face every time I see a new entry. The creativity and cakes are amazing, and I really wanted to be a part of it!
So for my entry I choose one of my favourite shirts. I adore the Impossible Love shirt, and really wanted to take it to another level and create a wedding cake.
This has kinda become a labour of love for me, because what should have taken me a couple of days, has stretched out to about a week and a half. I created the little cactus and ballon first out of sugar paste, and then spent a few nights making the flowers to decorate the cake with.
The bottom cake is chocolate fudge filled with vanilla bean buttercream, and the top cake is sort of a red velvet cake, filled with chocolate buttercream. In keeping with the wedding theme, I covered the whole thing with marzipan. The last layer of frosting is buttercream which I flavoured with homemade passionfruit butter. This was a last minute change of plans from my original idea of finishing the cake with fondant, as I really wanted to get a rustic textured look to the cake, so it didn't look so serious, and really complimented the impossible lovers.
The cake was enjoyed outside in the sun for a 'garden reception'
Precided over by my very own little cat who wanted in on the action.. and also tried to carry off the cactus!
This was awesome fun, and I hope that my entry gives you all a smile, as the other cakes certainly have done for me!
