Playin' In The Sprinkler cake by Amber Asbill

Description

When my favorite bakery went out of business and my daughter's birthday rolled around in April of this year, I had decided I'd just make cupcakes for her party. She begged for a cake all of her own so I made a practice cake and thus the obsession began. I've made a total of 5 cakes, including my entry for this contest. Since I need all the practice I can get, I thought this contest was the perfect opportunity for practice and maybe I'd win something cool along the way. I chose this design because as a kid I was constantly playing in the sprinkler. My daughter loves to do the same thing. Instead of baking from scratch like I usually do, I went with what I had and I baked an Orange Supreme cake, from a box (yikes!) and covered it with homeade chocolate buttercream. The cake is covered in black fondant and all the details, including the main characters are all made from fondant. This cake was a lot of fun to make. I hope you all like it !

PS: I've been watching Nacho Libre while doing this cake and I think it's one of the best movies ever. Yes, I'm easily entertained. So, in the words of Nacho "Hi hwanna hween!!"
