Everybody Loves A Yeti cake by Maggie McNally

Description

"Everyone Loves a Yeti" is one of my favorite shirts, so when my husband suggested I make a Threadcake, I decided to use it as the design.

First, I researched making the figures. Several sites recommended using marzipan, so I decided to go for it. Unfortunately, molding the figures was harder than it looked! The yeti and his friends kept shrinking down into a little ball of marzipan. I added a little more powdered sugar and let them dry in pieces overnight before putting them together. The next day, I painted the figures with food coloring and added details with melted chocolate. I tried to capture the expressions given to the yeti and its friends by the artist, but chocolate is a difficult medium! Finally, I made the cake, frosted it and added the figures. All in all, it took about two days to assemble the cake, but only about 20 minutes for the yeti to destroy it!

Thanks for the tasty, tasty fun!
