Description
Those cute cuddly bunnies may have taken the magician, but there was more than enough magic left in the kitchen for this fun cake!
I chose "Don't Trust in Cute Bunnies" because it looked like a fun opportunity to mix very different techniques: piped butter cream icing fur for the cute (but naughty) bunny, and rolled fondant for a dead magician's hat and wand. I made yellow pound cake and butter cream icing from scratch, and bought the fondant all ready to color and roll.
My little brother was a great sport about helping with photos, so he was more than willing to help me out with finishing scraps of cake and extra icing (the home made butter cream is a family favorite).
Over all, the cakes took about two days of work: baking and crumb coating during the first and decorating during the second. When people asked what I was working on, the subject matter never failed to surprise and please. It is the perfect blend of deliciousness and magical humor.
Enjoy!
