Description
"Defend the Kingdom" was the result of a cake making party with some of our closest friends. This is starting to become a tradition for us, thanks to threadcakes, as two years ago we got together to make a interpetation of "Pandamonium". This year we didn't set any parts of the cake on fire even though we were tempted to make flaming arrows.
For a base, we used chocolate cupcakes and sheet cakes for the castle and a coffee flavored buttercream frosting. The beach ball, somewhat deflated under it's own weight, was two halves of a soccer ball mold frosted together and coated with our own home made fondant.
Finally the defenders are made of gingerbread and courage.
The cake was yummo. We brought it to a backyard BBQ the next day.
The entire process, which we sort of made up as we went along, took several hours (lots of breaks for food and drink). Many hands contributed to the making of this cake and we're all looking forward to the next contest.
With Love,
Jason, Katie, Kiersten, Jor-El, Amy, James, & Dawn.
