Description
I bet you are wondering what you're looking at? Someone had to post a complete wreck, right?
This cake was composed of dark chocolate cake mix, butter cream icing (chocolate used for color), coco krispies, and lolipops. To my surprise, these elements did not form a light-weight and stable structure, but rather an awkwardly heavy, shifty mass of chocolatey goodness.
Things seemed to be going well and all of the various components were finally starting to come together, when a crack revealed itself upon opening the refrigerator. As the front end threatened to fall off, my partner in crime and I rushed to throw all of the pieces together and slap on some decorative details. With no time to ponder how to give the balloons the illusion of weightlessness, I skewered them in to the rear submarine and then attempted to add the graham cracker rudder, forcefully shoving it between the two layers of cake. As I was about to get back to work icing the cloud base, the rear detached and the entire sub took a dive sideways, landing on my arm. Following suit, the parascope collapsed shortly after. This cake never completed.
If I had a time machine, I would not change a thing...I would go back just to lmao all over again! I had such a great time making it & learned so much, and the best part was that finished or unfinished, the whole thing is edible! I owe a huge thanks to Heidi Hays, for patiently mentoring my first attempt at creating an elaborate cake and for the use of her kitchen and supplies! Also, thank you so much threadcakes for enabling so many fantastic memories!
