A Dog's Instinct

This was a pretty simple cake, but a lot of fun to construct. I made a sheet cake with a box mix and leveled the top off a little when it was done. Covered it in icing and then used fondant over the entire cake. I dug out a little portion of the cake for the hole. The trees and fish bones are made out of Royal Icing. I just piped some trees out on a sheet of wax paper and they popped right off when they were dry. They were pretty fragile though so I ended up making a ton of them. The dog is made out of fondant and the little spots around the trees are just cake crumbles that I took out of the hole in the cake. The whole process took about a day and a half working on it off and on and letting the trees dry and stuff.
