Description
This was the first time I have EVER tried something this complicated. I've covered cakes in fondant before but I've never made 3D characters. What a ride! I couldn't decide what size to make the cake though I knew it would be a small one. I made some king size cupcakes as well as a 6". I wound up going with the 6" but the characters got away from me, they came out bigger than I intended! I learned a lot with this cake, what not to do and what to do next time.
The cake is covered in buttercream and fondant, no filling. The characters are made from rice krispie treats and covered in fondant. The only thing non-edible on the cake is the stick supporting the mouse and the needles wires and whiskers.
All in all this cake took me, three days with three toddlers trying to "help" with the process.
