Description
My name is Leah and I have been decorating cakes for exactly one year! I've been working with fondant and gum-paste for only about 6 months. I work at a small, old fashioned bakery in Virginia, and I enjoy every minute of it!
Enough about me, let's talk cake!
First of all, I fell in love with this tee design, "The Monsterhill" by Andreas Krapf. It's cute, fun, and makes an interesting cake and that is why I chose it! I first had to make and bake the delicious vanilla cake! I simply mixed all the sweet ingredients into the mixer and poured it into a full-sheet pan, then baked! After it cooled, I had to cut it down to the shape of the base and my monster's body. From there, I had to drape the base and also drape the mound of monster with fondant and shape him. Next comes the fine details; eyes, teeth, mouth, tongue, nose, hands, feet, toes, FUR! The fur took the longest, about 2 hours straight, but it ended up being my favorite part of the whole cake. I not only covered the whole body in fur, I also gave it a special touch with edible paint! A shimmery silver to accent it. I added paint to detail the face as well; to make it more life-like. Making the other details like the skulls, bones, trees, clouds and flowers, were also very tedious, yet so much fun! I think the cake probably took me about 10-12 hours as a whole, but with all that work came a reward! My sister and I were the first to enjoy "The Monsterhill's" deliciousness! Though cutting that cake had to be one of the hardest things I ever had to do! >,<
I also want to thank you ThreadCakes for this great opportunity! Like I said, making this cake was truly so much fun and I learned a lot during the process!
Thank again ThreadCakes! ^-^
