Description
I'm a marine biologist, and these charming penguins really appealed to me. Homemade yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, all decorations done with fondant. Made the cake and the fondant, then went on a vacation (stored cake in freezer); upon returning, frosted and decorated in the dead of night. My third time using fondant; it is definitely a learning process.
Brought the cake in to feed my labmates, who always appreciate free food appearing on the conference room table. Although one commented that she thought it looked like the penguins were floating in the ocean because all their icebergs had melted, which was a somewhat darker spin than I'd seen in the design.
