Insomnia

After much sketching and deliberating over which Threadless design to make into a cake, which was a very tough decision I might add, I finally decided on "insomnia." I can't say exactly why I chose this particular, maybe it was because of the long hours I put into the designs and decision process:) As a hobby cake decorator, I really wanted to try a “new to me” technique so that I could grow and learn in my caking abilities. For me, that new skill was stacking butter cream iced cakes. So, I designed this cake to be two tiers, one square and the other round. Since the design of the shirt was so clean and simple I wanted to keep to the integrity of their design and maintain 2 dimensional figures on the sides. For the topper though, I designed for a 3D fondant and gumpaste sheep figure. I had a lot of fun making this cake, and I hope you enjoy looking at it! It is a vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling (aka what I had on hand )
