I wanted to do something that would be simple (I am just a beginner at this!) but would also look great. I also decided to do two entries at once and while I was making a rich chocolate cake with the other entry I decide to go easy with this one and use a packet mix...I went with a vesty orange cake which in the end was delicious!
It was only half way through making the cake I remembered we had to take photos....doh! Plus my camera batteries needed time to recharge so half way through the process I paused for an hour, had some lunch etc and was ready to go again when I had my camera ready. The muffins are the giant size type ones and worked out really well. The packet mix said it would make 24 normal muffins....I was only able to make 5 big ones.
I left decorating till the next day so the muffins would be harder and easier to carve into the shapes I wanted. I then used the packet mix icing to coat them before using fondant as the ghost sheets and bag. Once it was on I trimmed and did the serrations at the bottom. Then just using some black food dye I painted the eyes on. I put the finished cakes on a block of left over fondant to give a bit of the floating feel.
Really happy with how they ended up looking plus they do taste good!!
