Summer Wind

This is my second threadcake entry. I've always loved this design, so I thought it would be great to turn it into cake. I decided on carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I had never made a carrot cake before so I thought it would be fun to try something new.

I used home-made fondant colored blue to cover the cake. I made the flowers out of gumpaste and sugar pearls. Then I painted the face on with a blue gel paste food coloring and vodka mixture.

The whole process took about 4 or so hours, including bake time.

I took this to a family party and it was a huge hit. Everyone loved the carrot cake. It was very delicious. It was nice to actually be able to enjoy this cake, as my last threadcake entry was a little stale because it took so long to create.
