Description
I learned a very important lesson from this cake. Food coloring stains skin. Especially black and blue food coloring. I thought this design would translate fairly well to a cake, but I had a few hiccups along the way. The first thing was that I realized I only had one round cake pan, and one square cake pan that are about the same size. Another problem was that I wanted to roll out my fondant, but I don't seem to own a rolling pin... so I used a mason jar. I also don't seem to own a plate big enough to put a cake on, so I turned the square pan upside-down to use as a pedestal. I used pre-made fondant, cake mix, and icing. The whole thing took me from about 5pm to 10pm on a Tuesday night. Mid-decorating, my roommate caught me eating fondant scraps, which turned my teeth a lovely shade of grayish black. Then I got a tummy ache. In the end the cake tasted very sugary, and it didn't really look like I imagined it, but I'm glad I stuck with it, and will now proceed to throw myself a big party in my head to celebrate this, my first threadcake. THE END.
