How many chucks would a woodchuck wear is a woodchuck could wear chucks?
This is my first threadcakes entry. I found this site last year and fell in love! With my passion for cake I had to enter this year's contest!I thought I would do this little guy because he was too cute to pass up!
I baked a devils food cake and cut out 3 circles to stack them with butter cream icing. I wanted to make a mini cake so he is a bit bigger than my hand! At first I thought he would be easy but I was definitely wrong!
Anyways, once he was stacked up I carved his head and thighs and iced him, then I inserted a bubble tea straw to keep it from falling over. I rolled out some mocha fondant (that was so good) and covered him. after that there was a dilemma, I noticed that his face was a little small (the cake being so small), so I added a big chunk and shaped it. I used a Dresden tool to do the hair just uneven striations all along his body. I flattened out a piece of that yummy fondant in the shape of an elongated tear drop, flattened it and did the same procedure to match his fur. I then added brown candies for the eyes and nose. I rolled a small ball, flattened it and folded it to make the ears. For his hands, I rolled out a log of fondant, flattened it and cut fingers with mini scissors, I put all of these on with some water. I hand painted his fur with some gel and airbrush colour.
The shoes were next, unfortunately they didn't have enough time to dry so they look kinda rough, like that little guy was wearing them all over the place lol. I cut out an oval piece of gumpaste for the base and then rolled out a red piece of fondant for the shoe. I punctured the sides of the red fondant for the laces. Then I cut another oval for the lip and stuck on the orange laces because I love orange and I thought it would look cool, which it did :)
This cake took me about 3 days with on and off by working all day and coming home to work on him. In the end I think he is so adorable and I didn't want to cut into him! LOL so I gave him to my friend :) But that little rascal was tasty! I couldn't pass up eating his little hand hehe!
