Description
This cake was such an epic journey that I had to finish it and submit it, even though it's not the best. I have been following the Doctor Hoo art for a long time - I knew it back when it was on deviantArt, and when it got submitted to Threadless, I was one of the first to vote for it to become a shirt. And bought it immediately upon seeing it made (I love it).
When Threadcakes rolled around, I really wanted to make a design based off of it. I made a cake. I stack it. It fell over.
I got a new recipe, and stacked THAT on top of Rice Krispy Treats. I sculpted it and put a crumb coat on. Refrigerated it for a day, then decorated it this evening. It's a rather adorable owl, though I would need more time to be able to sculpt it correctly, and make the 'hair' right. Either way, David Tennant owl is adorable, and I recommend the shirt immensely (it's currently in stock, but it flew (pun intended) when it was first put up).
The cake is a 'densed-up' Pillsbury yellow cake (the first one I tried was sour cream pound cake, which was delicious but didn't cook all the way through - not good for stacking!). Frosting is just chocolate, and then white with various Wilton dyes (brown, black, and yellow).
