A Butterfly Effect

I liked this design because of the contrast. I was initially going to just make it flat on a "slab" but thought it would be more interesting by taking some of the features and giving them more of a 3D effect. Anyway, it only took two days although I did make the section over the eyes - the butterfly part - in advance so that the gum paste could dry a little. Day one was baking and covering in icing/fondant and then Day two was adding the rest of the features.
The cake was vanilla with white chocolate icing and covered in fondant with the features added using both fondant and airbrush food colours.
