I have been wanting to do this design since I saw it two years ago and I finally got to! Did I mention I love Star Wars? Because I do. A lot. I am so happy with this cake and I hope you guys love it as much as I do!
I started off by baking a 12x18" and a 9" square cake vanilla cake and another 12x18" chocolate cake for this design. The at-at ended up being chocolate while the toilet was vanilla and I used a very yummy buttercream for the fillings. I carved out the toilet and iced it first, then let it chill while I tackled sculpting the at-at. I did him in parts so I could work on all of his detail in stages.
Then I put all of the pieces in the fridge overnight and I preped my grey fondant and my airbrush colors. I then made the lid for the toilet and let it dry. The next day I covered the different parts in fondant, continually rotating pieces in and out of the fridge to keep everything firm and tacky. Next I airbrushed all of the shadows onto the pieces and finally hand painted all of the black lines in food coloring.
Lastly, I covered my board in fondant and airbrushed the tile lines, then assembled the cake, and ate it. It took me about two days all together to complete this entry and I enjoyed every minute of it!
