Hipster Mummy

I LOVE this design! It makes me laugh every time I see it! I wanted to try my hand at sculpting, and I thought this would be a good candidate. It is now October, and a great time for Mummies.

It took three days to complete this cake. I worked on this after work. The first day I made the cakes and frosting. I made a plethora of cake and frosting. As I had never sculpted before, I was not sure how much of each I needed. I just knew I needed layers and layers. The second day I stacked the cakes and sculplted the chest, then the skull. The third day I covered both parts, and finished with the wrappings, the detailed wrinkles and fine lines, and the scarf, and glasses.

The cake was a spice cake with pumpkin butter cream frosting. The coating was white chocolate modeling clay. I had my Monday Night Cake Night on Wednesday, and invited my friends over to enjoy taking part in the Mummy. I got great reviews on the looks, and everyone was happy with the taste.
