Be Creative cake by Natissa Small

Description

I have a love for all cute things that are anthropomorphic, which also happens to be a fun word to say. As soon as I saw this design which evokes all sorts of afternoons spent on the floor drawing on the back of mistyped letters (on an actual typewriter), I had to make it into delicious cake form.

The topper is made mostly from fondant with a gumpaste lid to the box. Nothing fancy here, I'm notoriously lazy so I sketched out the box to size and started making the pieces. I was happiest with the lid of all things because it held together and stayed in place with the two little wires I stuck in the corner to keep it at the right angle, but it is kept in place with fondant-based goo. (Sounds yummy, amiright? It's just fondant and water.) There is also a wire in the blue crayon he is holding because I haven't learned how to defy gravity in my cake decorating.

The drawings on the cake are hand-painted and was done last minute in a complete rush but it worked! The inside of the cake had to fit the splendorous design by being RAINBOW vanilla cake with double-vanilla frosting. Not all that exciting flavour-wise but baked from scratch, it was incredibly delicious.
