Description
As soon as I saw this design I knew it was to be my entry for 2014. With a 4 and a 6 year old to bake for - I figured Cookie Monster would surely be a winner. Thats until about half way through the decorating process where I was informed by my 6 year old that in fact Sesame Street "was for girls" and was "definitely not cool"! Didn't stop him tucking into it later though.
For the cake I tried a couple of new recipes, firstly a new "white cake" recipe which was more of a yellow cake, but turned out to be perfect for carving as it was almost pound cake like. For the icing I tried some hot chocolate buttercream which turned out to be very tasty but quite fudge-y and hence not the greatest for this project as it tended to tear the cake to shreds during the icing process.
Everything - including the fondant - was made myself, except for the cookie. That was store bought. And tasty. Om nom nom.
