Description
So what's my story: 24 hours ago I read quite provocative statement "Who's baking this weekend?" on Facebook and although I had other plans I found it a good idea. It's a lot of wonderful entries here this year, you all are extremely talented, guys. This is basically just my greeting and showing my endless respect and sympathy to you all.
Picked a design, started to bake (the cake tried to explode in the oven) and since it was cooling down I browsed on the design list. I had my selection of different colors of fondant ready when I changed my mind and decided to stick with this beautiful B&W mandala.
The original idea was quite simple - bees and honeycomb design - so I made plain vanilla yellow cake (from scratch) and butter cream with honey infused with ginger.I believe it's gonna work with this design as well. Allover it took 10 hours but I was watching some TV series during the time my cake needed for chilling in the fridge.
Most of the decorations are black and white fondant, details are made out of royal icing, sugar pearls and the white petals are decorated with edible ink pen.
I'm quite pleased with how it turned out and I'm looking forward to my co-workers reactions.
